Saint-Barthélemy high season: four months that make the year
Saint-Barthélemy lives by a calendar whose centrality is the high season. From 15 December to 15 April, the island reaches its annual peak: eight to ten thousand people simultaneously present (residents, villa owners, renters, yacht crews moored in the bay), versus two to three thousand in low season. This density transforms the island experience — more international atmosphere, livelier dinners, busier beaches, but also full services, top-form teams and addresses at their finest.
This concentration owes to several factors. Climate first: between late November and April, the dry season settles in with stable temperatures (twenty-six to twenty-nine degrees), low humidity, constant trade winds, warm sea (twenty-six degrees). Then the coincidence with northern hemisphere holiday and professional vacations — Christmas, New Year, American and European February, Easter weeks. Finally, the community dimension: Saint-Barth is a small island where a significant share of residents are seasonal and return each year at the same periods, creating circles of annual reunions.

November to early December: the progressive build-up
From 15 November to 15 December, the island finishes waking up. Villas closed during low season progressively reopen, teams return, the first season events take place (St Barth Cata Cup mid-November, traditionally marking the yachting community’s return). Restaurants adopt their normal rhythm, Gustavia boutiques unpack winter collections. It is the period when regulars return to verify that their villa is in order, their teams in place, their usual tables resumed.
For our clients wanting to take possession of the island before the holidays, these four weeks are precious. Intermediate rates (between low season and holiday peak), moderate attendance, climate already established.
Christmas Week: 20-27 December
Christmas week concentrates families. Children are on vacation, parents arrive in advance, the island fills progressively. Family villas (eight to twelve bedrooms) are favoured, often rented by the same families year after year. Christmas evenings are traditionally held at the villa, with private chef and full team. Midnight Mass at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Gustavia gathers the community.
High rates (two to three times low season), bookings a year in advance, minimum rental fourteen nights for most villas. This is the most traditional window of high season.
New Year Week: 28 December – 4 January — the absolute peak
New Year week is the absolute season peak. The most expensive, busiest, most festive week. Gustavia’s Port Hercule receives that week nearly fifty mega-yachts (Lürssen, Feadship, Benetti exceeding sixty metres) coming specifically for 31 December evenings — fireworks, cross-yacht dinners, parties at Nikki Beach, Bonito, Shellona. Private villa parties draw international elite. The social season reaches maximum density.
Bookings eighteen to twenty-four months ahead for the most coveted villas and yachts. Commitments fourteen to twenty-one nights minimum. Rates three to four times low season. The 31st evenings book in July-August for December.
January-February: the season extends
After the New Year tumult, the island returns to a more measured rhythm from 5 January to late February. Europeans return as couples or in small groups, East Coast Americans take longer stays, families with children during American school vacations (mid-February, Presidents’ Week) bring family animation. The St Barth Music Festival mid-January (two weeks of classical and contemporary music in emblematic locations) attracts a cultural circle.
High rates but lower than late December peak, bookings a year ahead, minimum stay often seven to ten nights. This is the favourite period of many of our clients — balanced atmosphere, available tables, more breathable beaches.
March: end of season and major sporting events
March is the month of major events. The St Barth Bucket Regatta (mid-March), regatta of sixty to one hundred metre superyachts, draws one of the year’s finest yachting communities. Carnival (Mardi Gras, traditionally mid-February or early March) animates Gustavia’s street with parades and parties. The St Barth Gourmet Festival (late March) closes the season with dinners signed by the greatest international chefs. Climate still perfect, attendance progressively decreasing, rates more accessible than the January-February peak.

St Barth Cata Cup (14-16 November 2026)
International Formula 18 catamaran regatta, organised at Saint-Jean. Three days of races gathering the world’s best crews. Sporting competition accompanies parties at Carl Gustaf and Eden Rock hotels. For the yachting and nautical community, it is the annual return to Saint-Barth.
New Year’s Eve (31 December 2026)
New Year’s Eve is the season’s major event. Emblematic parties take place at Nikki Beach (the most filmed New Year’s Eve on the island), Bonito (more intimate dinner-party), Shellona at Shell Beach (with fireworks from the bay), at the palaces (Eden Rock, Cheval Blanc, Le Carl Gustaf, Le Toiny). Gumbay Festival and Carnival (mid-February 2027)

St Barth Bucket Regatta (12-14 March 2027)
One of the most prestigious events on the world yachting calendar. Regatta of sixty to one hundred metre superyachts, organised since 1995. Saint-Barth’s harbour fills then with about thirty exceptional units. Bucket parties (cocktails on board, gala dinner) constitute one of the highlights of the international yachting community. St Barth Gourmet Festival (late March-early April 2027)
Five days of dinners signed by the greatest international chefs invited for the occasion. Island restaurants (Le Tamarin, Bonito, l’Isoletta, Sand Bar, Restaurant Eden Rock) each welcome a starred chef who composes a unique menu for the festival’s duration. Booking in high season: timing and strategy
The most critical subject of a successful Saint-Barth high season is booking strategy. Timeframes have considerably lengthened in recent years.
Villas: twelve to eighteen months ahead
The most sought-after villas (from eight bedrooms, on the heights or beachfront, with full team) close from the previous summer for the following winter. For the 2026-2027 season (December 2026 New Year, February-March 2027), serious negotiations begin in July 2026. For the 2027-2028 season, pre-options are placed from summer 2026. Some families automatically renew their rental from year to year, closing the best addresses without them ever appearing on an open market.
Yachts: eighteen to twenty-four months ahead
Yachts to charter for New Year or February book even earlier. Forty to sixty metre units with crew and VIP services often go eighteen months ahead, sometimes two years. Sixty to one hundred metres for the Bucket Regatta are committed from the previous regatta.
Palaces: six to twelve months ahead
Island palaces (Cheval Blanc, Eden Rock, Le Carl Gustaf, Le Toiny, Rosewood Le Guanahani) open reservations between twelve and nine months before the season. The most sought-after suites (bay-view suites, beachfront bungalow suites) close quickly. For New Year, reservations generally open March-April.
New Year evenings and tables
The 31 December evenings at emblematic addresses (Nikki Beach, Bonito, Shellona, palaces) book in July-August. Restaurant New Year tables close in September-October. For clients organising their own villa party, private chef and caterer book six to eight months ahead.

Securing options in July-September
Based on the brief, we activate contacts with identified villas, palaces, yachts and providers. Pre-options placed, first deposits paid per modalities. For villas in automatic year-to-year renewal, we identify the rare windows where a release may occur and remain on active watch.
Composing the stay programme in autumn
Once accommodation is secured, we compose the complete programme — house team, private chef, nautical programme (tender, charter for sea days), restaurant reservations, access to New Year parties or targeted events, wellness services, transfers (private jet to Saint-Martin then connection to Saint-Barth), arrival welcome.
Logistical coordination in November
Six weeks before arrival, final verification of all elements. Villa provisioning, team identification, menu validation, reservation confirmation, briefing of drivers and coordinators. This final phase makes the stay fluid.
